on Summer Weekends

still untested as,
"Just an expression"
for questionable contents
donning drop-dead
chest protectors

unable to pay the rent
with bob-inflected storytelling
special sound effects
refurbishing themselves

just left of center
while still sweating
belting out countermelodies
for composers in residence

with smatterings of regulars
wondering, "Where else?!"
yet thinking of settling
into middle registers

tentatively pledged
ruminating on redemptive memory
where energy ends left penniless...
